Cultures from around the world have legends and customs around wish trees. An individual expresses a heart-felt wish, writes it down on paper and ties it with ribbon to a tree. Sometimes — if one wishes — one may whisper the wish into the bark, or tell it to the whistling leaves. This self-guided interactive installation will be replenished with new wishtags periodically. We’ll also spend time with the tree (shamans might call it “holding the vision”), as well as share the anonymous wishes expressed by passersby and dreamers via Twitter up through May 2010.
If we receive enough donations, we will install other self-guided installations throughout New Orleans. The first wish tree will be in a central location that sees both local and visitor foot traffic in a historic tree-lined boulevard.Invitation to the christening of the Wish Tree…

Where: Neutral ground at Esplanade Ave and Royal St, New Orleans, LA. You’ll find us easily enough. If you live elsewhere in the galaxy, tweet me @eve11 before 11 a.m. and I will write your wish on the tree as well.
